A Healthier You Day 2
Saturdays are for Vegetables!
Deliberately prepare and eat leafy green veggies today – even if you’ve eaten any during the week.
Why Should You Eat More Vegetables?
Vegetables, especially the leafy green ones, have health benefits you wouldn’t want to ever miss.
- They contain vitamins A (for eyesight), C, E, and K (which prevent osteoporosis and inflammation). Osteoporosis is a health condition that makes your bone porous and easily fractured.
- They detoxify your body system.
- They are a rich supply of folate, a B vitamin that keeps your heart healthy and prevents birth defects in unborn babies.
- They contain antioxidants that safeguard your body from cancer-causing free radicals.
- They are packed with dietary fiber, which you need for smooth digestion.
How to Eat More Vegetables
- Chop up two or more varieties of vegetables into salads, and enjoy with a salad dressing of your choice (Mayonnaise, guacamole, salad cream, etc.).
- Add leafy green vegetables to your soups.
- Steam leafy vegetables and add them to your meals.
- Season and stir-fry them as a replacement for stew and sauce.
- Add them to smoothies. Yeah, it may be gross, but your body would smack it’s lips!
- Use them as wraps for sharwama, rolls, and sandwiches.
