A Healthier You Day 7
Since your water bottle is by your bedside, water should always be the first thing you take in the morning – even without washing your mouth.
It is best to drink water as soon as you open your eyes. If you wait till you brush your teeth and freshen up, you could easily forget to do so. Plus, if your morning mouth could kill you, it would have done so while you were asleep.
Health Advantages of Drinking Water Early In The Morning
It Rehydrates You
Since you won’t be having any fluid for the 6 to 8 hours you are asleep, taking water first thing in the morning rehydrates you. To see how much you need this early morning rehydration, you can equate how dehydrated you are when you wake up to how thirsty you’d be when you do not drink water for up to 6 or 8 hours during the day.
It Boosts Your Mental Performance
Drinking water first thing in the morning can greatly boost your mental performance. It helps you get a clear head, especially if you do deep mental work in the morning.
It Kick-Starts Your Metabolism
Making water the first thing you drink in the morning helps you flush out bad gut bacteria to make more room for good ones to grow. Consequently, you boost your metabolism and also improve bowel movements.
Flushes Your Kidney and Urinary Tract
Since you do not take any fluid while you sleep, your kidney could make do with a healthy dose of water after your long fluid break. In addition, when water is the first thing you take in the morning, you help your body properly flush out waste from your kidneys and urinary system.
Helps You Lose Weight
Taking water first thing in the morning helps your burn fat, especially if it’s cold water. This fat burning happens through a process called water-induced thermogenesis. Water-induced thermogenesis occurs when your body burns calories to produce heat that warms up the water (or other food you eat) entering your body.
So, tell me. Have you been practicing this habit? If not, will you start doing so?
Cheers to a healthier you!
