Phew!
Who would have thought May would be this busy!
But I’m sure you’re savoring and making the most of every day of the month.
Today, I want to share something quite profound with you. It’s actually something I’ve used over the years, and I honestly think you should enjoy it too.
The Russia-Ukraine war is still very much underway, and most news platforms are saturated with stories of shootings, murders and fatal accidents. Some others are brimming with evidences of economic meltdowns, food scarcity, and hardship forecasts. You really do not need to do much these days to get overwhelmed with bad news. Simply turn on the TV, or open your favorite browsers, and the news of these happenings will stare you right in the face.
But you see, listening to the news isn’t exactly my problem. My concern is what happens right after you’ve scrolled through countless news websites to get the full story of each occurrence.
You’ll likely get overwhelmed, and fear could creep in and wreak havoc on your mind. While you may not agree at this point, that fear can unconsciously affect your actions and the way you perceive things. You may even find yourself falling out of faith, and doubting God’s ability in your life. Soon, your experiences may start to conform with those happenings!
But I’m sharing with you 3 surefire things you can do to lock that overwhelm and its effects out of your life.
Cut Back on the News
Yes!
Sometimes, you really do not need to read the entire news after reading the headlines. The moment you read the headlines or watch the highlights of bad news, it’s probably the right time to turn off the TV or put down your phone.
The more attention you give to the bad news, the more your mind launches anchors around those happenings. And you really don’t want to know what happens after this point.
So always know when to stop watching the news or scrolling through the Instagram pages of news platforms.
Confess What Is Yours In Christ
This is exactly what I did during the Covid-19 pandemic. As I saw the countless bodies recorded in Italy, France, and the U.S., I never stopped declaring all God’s word says concerning my health. Else, I’m pretty sure that scare of what I saw on the TV would have severely dented my health (physically and mentally).
And right now, forecasts are flying about that inflation would multiply across the globe due to the Russia-Ukraine war and a host of other factors. The funniest part? Salaries aren’t going up!
It’s okay to stay abreast of the happenings around you, but when you continually feed on those forecasts, your faith will suffer!
Instead, focus your attention on what God has said and is still saying concerning you. Keep going about your business (and growing your income), but do not stop confessing what is yours in Christ. Cast that fear of slipping into poverty out of your mind, and keep reckoning with the infinite supply in Christ!
Everyone is getting divorced or suffering a heartbreak, and it seems marriage isn’t something to look forward to anymore? Keep saying and believing what God has said concerning your marriage!
Be Thankful
In other words, count your blessings!
Fix your attention on what God has provided for you, and be grateful for them. Trust me, it will keep your faith burning, and spare you the overwhelm that accompanies bad news!!
